Background. In systemic scleroderma (Scl), Raynaud's syndrome is a universal phenomenon, sometimes preceded by years and even decades, by the appearance of other symptoms of scleroderma. Objective of the study. Study of the frequency and presentation of Raynaud's syndrome in patients with systemic scleroderma in the Republic of Moldova. Material and Methods. The study included 70 consecutive patients with systemic scleroderma, of whom only 5 were male. The average age of the subjects included in the study was 45.1years. The average duration of the disease - 13.1 years. Of these, 59 (84.3%) presented Scl the limited form, and 11 (15.7%) the diffuse form of the disease. The mean disease activity was 4.5 (according to the EUSTAR score). Results. In patients included in the study, the underlying disease began with signs of Raynaud's syndrome in 63 (90%) of cases. The period until the appearance of the first non-Raynaud's signs was on average 13.4months. The three-phase character of the syndrome was observed only in 10 (14.3%) of patients, biphasic in 46 (65.7%) and monophasic, with skin pallor, in 14 (20%) of the studied patients. As triggers for attacks, patients mentioned: cold 63 (90%), emotions 31 (44.3%), cigarette smoke 4 (5.7%), air conditioning 3 (4.3%), wind 3 (4.3%), raising the voice 1 (1.4%). Finger ulcers or their consequences (scars) were reported in 21 (30%) of patients included in the study. Conclusion. Raynaud's syndrome is a common (90%) and early manifestation of systemic scleroderma. The classic three-phase character was registered only in 14.3% of the cases; the presence of more triggers than cold and emotions was observed-requires a thorough collection of the anamnesis. |
