Background. Global warming is a problem that includes many life aspects. The necessity to understand this problem is important for a proper approach and application of the prevention and adaptation methods. The risks of the global warming, directly and indirectly, affect the population's health. Objective of the study. Evaluation of the latest statistical data on the dynamics of global temperatures. Material and Methods. It has been realized a descriptive study of the statistical data over the last decade exposed from the specialized bibliographic sources. For the study, the annual average air temperature values were selected. Results. According to the researches, 2020 was the second warmest year of the last decade, after 2016. Each month of the year was in the top-4 of the warmest months, according to the values recorded for that month. Record temperatures were recorded in January, May and September. In 2020, the average land surface temperature was 13.9°C, 0.98°C higher than the 20th century and 1.19˚C warmer than during the pre-industrial period (1880-1900). The average land and ocean surface temperature in the Northern Hemisphere was the highest in the last 141 years, while the annual land and ocean surface temperature in the Southern Hemisphere was the fifth-highest one. Conclusion. The results confirmed that 2020 was the 44th consecutive year (since 1977), with global temperatures above the 20th century average. The period of 2011-2020 was the warmest decade ever, with average overall temperature +0.82°C above the 20th century average. |
