Background. Suicide is a serious public health problem. Suicide attempts are more common compared to completed suicides. There are, however, important predictors of repeated attempts. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the data on risk factors in multiple suicide attempts. Objective of the study. Evaluation of risk factors in multiple suicide attempts depending on age, gender and mental illness present. Material and Methods. The research was conducted within the Department of Psychiatry, Narcotics and Medical Psychology of USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu". The publications on multiple suicide attempts available on PubMed were studied. Results. The most common risk factors for subsequent suicide attempts are previous ones. Among other factors that find the average age, unemployment, divorce, abandonment. About 90% of all suicides are associated with mental disorders. Severe insomnia during the depressive episode, schizophrenic spectrum disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, current recurrent psychotic syndrome, substance abuse are associated with an increased suicide risk. Repeated attempts and mood swings following the administration of antidepressants are frequently associated. Conclusion. The risk of repeated suicide attempts is higher for people who have had previous attempts. The identification of risk factors can be used as a method of prevention and intervention. Studies are needed to address the impact of early screening for repetitive suicidal behavior |
