In the article, the main challenges and problems of the Ukraine’s crisis communication system in combating the Covid-19 pandemic are revealed. The definition of the concept «crisis», the typology of crises is considered. Examples of crisis communication between public authorities and the public, which have led to negative consequences, are given. The main shortcomings in the public authorities of Ukraine communication during the coronavirus crisis are analyzed. The statistics on the reaction of the society to the communication actions of the public authorities at the beginning of the crisis are given. It was revealed that the main shortcomings in the system of crisis communications in Ukraine are the lack of regulatory requirements for the mandatory plans of crisis communication in government agencies; lack of a mechanism for interagency cooperation, lack of coordination between different levels of government, a formal approach in using the resources, lack of a centralized system with a single decision-making center. It has been determined that timely planning, preparation and development of a crisis communication plan ensures the success of operations during the crisis. |
