New technologies that emerged recently in the field of financing brought about new challenges and risks related to the social relations that appeared. It is understood that legal framework is absolutely vital for these new relations. Both extremes must be evaded. The first one is so called „pure capitalism” which means letting markets to self-organize. The second extreme is overregulation that could create obstacles for progress and innovation. The author examines current state of affairs in Moldovan regulation of cryptocurrencies and suggests that this type of financial relations must be legalized and recognized as a legal payment method.
