Throughout history, the issue of gender equality has been raised numerous times by the international community. With the modernization of European society, women are increasingly realizing that they must have equal rights, including political ones, equal to those of men. The continuous and systematic promotion of the principle of equal opportunities between men and women is a relatively recent concern for the Republic of Moldova. Community provisions on equal opportunities and equal treatment for women and men are significant, however insufficient. The legal status of women has undoubtedly improved, but equality is far from a reality. Even though women have the same rights as men, they do not always have equal access to opportunities as men and often fail to fully exercise their rights, especially in the political and social life |
