Background. The most common neurological symptom is confirmed to be cephalalgia, according to studies in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic. The headache attributed to Covid 19 has specific characteristics, it facilitates an increase in frequency and intensity of it, as an increased usage of analgesics. Objective of the study. of the study was to analyze the use of analgesic in patients with headache attributed to COVID 19 infection and to establish the presence of medication overuse. Material and Methods. An online survey, launched though social media canals, was completed by the patients with headache and COVID 19 disease. Validated questionnaire gathers data on: demographics, COVID infection, characteristics of headache before and during COVID 19 infection, abortive headache medication. Results. The study included 131 participants: 14 men (10.6%) and 117 women (89.31%), mean age - 37 ± 8,16 years. Before COVID 19 infection participants used analgesic drugs on 3.67 ± 2.96 days / month, during the COVID 19 infection month - 10.44 ± 8.81 days / month. From the study group 43 % of patients had medication overuse during the Covid 19 infection, compared to 9.1% - for patients with pre-existing headache. Conclusion. The study shows an increase in the number of days associated with the usage of analgesics to reduce the cephalalgia attributed to COVID 19, compared to the number of days with analgesic usage in order to combat a bout of primary headache that patients previously had. |
