The Anglo-Saxon law system or Common law is a legal system that governs the vast territories far beyond the limits of Great Britain. English law was imposed in several countries due to the vast expansion of British colonial territories in Africa, Asia and America. Born in the British Isles, this system does not entirely govern these islands. Being applied in England, Wales and Ireland, it does not apply in Scotland which has its own legal system.
