The article is devoted to the analysis of the energy policy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the main trends and development processes of the energy sector. It is noted that the country is faced with the general negative economic consequences of the pandemic, the complication of which will certainly affect the „green” energy, the development of which will slow down significantly. The author examines the role of the EU4Energy initiative program in promoting European energy standards, expresses the opinion that Moldova’s foreign energy policy is a vivid example of the continuation of domestic policy due to the country’s low self-sufficiency in primary energy resources. Particular attention is paid to the prospects for rapprochement with the European gas market. The author analyzes the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to join the Third Energy Package of the European Union (TEP). In practice, it provides for the separation of the system of production and supply of energy from the system of its transportation. It is emphasized that the energy agenda is important in the dialogue between Moldova and the European Union. First of all for Moldova. However, the EU’s energy policy towards Eastern European countries should not be viewed as an unprecedented guarantee of energy security. In fact, we can talk a lot about the „advantages” of the TPP, the need to implement it, but it is important to understand the real „cost” of our energy security, the limits of energy security and its flexibility, as well as the resilience of the energy sector to political risks and external challenges. |
