Rezumat | |||||
The article is focused on methodological aspects and main indicators for social cohesion research in the Republic of Moldova. Based on literature revew, the authors concluded that social cohesion is a multiaspectual phenomenon, which depends on various social contexts and it is very diffi cult to be measureed with the same methodological tools. Folowing the reccomendations of the World Bank, OECD, Council of Europe and the European Commission, and based on own pilot research, the authors are suggesting to use as basic dimensions for measuring social cohesion: social welfare, social capital and social mobility. Social welfare shall be researched as complex phenomenon, in a comprehensive logical framework, covering three aspects: living conditions, quality of life and sustainability, with focus on concrete conditions and perceptions. The social capital shall be measured from three dimensions perspectives: involvement in various groups and networks, including parties and non-governamental organisations; trust in institutions, neigbors, friends and foreigners and level of community cooperation for solving joint problems. All those three dimensions sould be researched at level of action and perceptions. Social mobility is the third dimension most frequently used for measuring social cohesion. The social mobility shal be researched from two perspectives: inter-generational mobility between parents and children or grandchildren and as intra-generational mobility - throughout the lives of individuals. Social mobility shows how the quality of life, employment status, education, health, etc. have changed during the life of individuals and compared to their parents. |
