Background. Although most of head and neck injuries are the result of road accidents, dog bites are often found among children. One of the most common traumas of the maxillofacial region is soft tissue damage, representing the first barrier against the traumatizing agent. Objective of the study. The aim of the study is to study the distribution of young patients diagnosed with dog bites in the context of developing measures to prevent this type of trauma and providing the most effective medical care. Material and Methods. There were used the historical, statistical , clinical, paraclinical and documentary methods to conduct the study. The research was performed based on the retrospective observational analysis of the results of the investigation of the observation sheets of 3905 patients admitted to the Pediatric Oro-MaxilloFacial Surgery Department IMSP IMsiC Clinica "Em. Coțaga" between 01.01.2018-31.12.2019. Results. 1.From the total number of 3905 patients,hospitalized in the OMF Pediatric Surgery Department during 01.01.2018-31.12.2019,the number of patients hospitalized with soft tissue traumas is 911,of which 33 patients with a diagnosis of dog bite.2.The share of DB in boys is 69.7%,in girls is 30.3%.3.The average number of days of hospitalization is 6.5,mainly being hospitalized for 7 days.4.All addresses with DB were urgently within the first 24 hours after the accident. 5.The most cases of DB were in spring-12,summer and autumn 9 cases,less in winter-3. 6.Cases of DB:0-3y-40%, 7-13y-33%, 4-6y-18%, 14-18y-9%. 7. 52% didn't require vaccination,36%recieved vaccine, 12% refused vactination. Conclusion. In young children,most of dog bite injuries are located in the OMF region,due to their small stature,which coincides with the height of large dogs,while adolescents defend with their limbs,where most of lesions occur.Rules for preventing DB help educate people about correct behavior among dogs. |
