Background. Despite notable progress in recent years, diffuse inflammatory processes of OMF region tend to spread and worsen, endangering the patient's life. One of the innovative methods of favorable action on wound healing has proven to be negative pressure therapy. Objective of the study. The present paper is aimed to present the specific practical aspects of negative pressure therapy in the treatment of diffuse inflammatory processes in OMF region, being an innovative treatment method in accelerating the healing of these pathologies. Material and Methods. A clinical study was performed based on the prospective analysis of the treatment results of 10 patients divided into two research groups: the study group -5 patients, using negative pressure therapy (NPT) and the control group-5 patients, subjected to surgical treatment by the traditional method. Data was collected using database files, in which all the parameters relevant for the study were introduced. Results. Patients enrolled in the study group underwent surgery to open and drain the diffuse inflammatory process, intraoperatively, being connected to the vacuum aspirator, applying NPT. Patients in the control group were treated by the traditional method (opening, draining the diffuse suppurative process, daily dressings). The level of negative pressure applied varied between 50 and 125 mmHg, being adapted depending on the type of wound and the evolution of each patient, duration of antibiotic therapy. Conclusion. Negative pressure therapy promotes optimal surgical management of diffuse inflammatory OMF processes. The specific features are: permanent evacuation of local secretions by setting an individual regime and pressure level; reducing the duration of antibiotic therapy, the number of days / bed. |
