Background. The maxillary sinus has close anatomical relationships with the teeth on the upper dental arch. The pathology of the maxillary sinus is related to periapical diseases of the teeth and neodontogenic lesions. Objective of the study. Analysis of patients with neodontogenic maxillary sinusitis during 2019. Material and Methods. The study included 59 patients with maxillary sinus lesions during 2019 treated in the Oro-maxillo-facial surgery department and they studied: age, place of residence, profession, insured - uninsured, etiology, diagnosis and treatment. Statistics: t-Student. Results. Patients with maxillary sinusitis were 3.92%. The most affected patients were 31-40 years of age, accounting for 79.66%. From the urban area 74.57% ± 5.66 and the inhabitants from the rural area 25.5% ± 5.67. Insured patients accounted for 91.5% ± 3.63 cases and uninsured patients accounted for 8.5% ± 3.63 cases. Neodontogenic maxillary sinusitis is of tumor and fungal origin in equal proportions, which together formed 30.50% ± 5.99, followed by postimplant sinusitis 3.08% ± 2.24. Analyzing according to the evolution of sinusitis, we mention that patients show more often the chronic form of maxillary sinusitis in 67.79% ± 6.08 cases and the acute in 32.2% ± 6.08. Computed tomograph. Conclusion. Maxillary sinusitis represent 4% of the total number of patients. The most commonly used method of surgical treatment is the Caldwell-Luc procedure in 51% of cases. |
