The aim of this study is to analyse from both linguistic and cultural points of view the French influence on the Romanian culture. Especially during Interwar period, Romania manifested his desire to follow the French model, seen as one of culture and elegance. In our study we will analyse the manner in which this influence is present in the advertisements of that period. The language used on the posters was Romanian, but you could also observe French words or linguistic constructions on Romanian advertisements due to cultural influence and relations established between France and Romania from that period. The language of slogans was not properly translated, French influence being obvious, for example: “Feriţi-vă de imitaţiuni”. Even the name of the capital Bucharest was called by travelers “small Paris” because the monuments and the manner they were constructed remind them French capital. |
