Background. In the last decade there has been a considerable increase in the number of pregnancies in women with diabetes mellitus (DM), conditioned by the increase in the number of patients with DM worldwide. Objective of the study. To study the clinical evolution of different forms of DM during pregnancy for developing measures to reduce maternal complications. Material and Methods. Cohort study was performed: 112 pregnant women with DM (basic lot-Lb) and 112 - without DM (control lotLc). Lb was divided into 3 sublots: 35 (31,3%) with DM type 1 (Lb1), 20 (17,8%) with DM type 2 (Lb2) and 57 (50,9%) with gestational diabetes (GDM) (Lb3). Statistics: MedCalc program. Results. 71 cases (63.4%) - compensated DM, vs. 41 (36.6%) - decompensated DM. Most decompensated forms were in DM type 1-25 (71.4%), vs. DM type 2-7 (35.0%) and GDM -9 (15.8%) cases. Complications of preexisting DM in Lb1 - 27 (77.1%): retinopathy -16 (45.7%); nephropathy -18 (51.4%); neuropathy 16 (45.7%); acute complications - 4 (11.4%) cases vs. Lb2 -7 (35%): retinopathy - 2 (10.0% CI95: 16.8483% -52.7381%, x2 = 14.303, df = 1, P = 0.0002), nephropathy- 3 (15.0% CI95: 16.4671% 53.5896%, x2 = 13.137, df = 1, P = 0.0003), acute complications -2 (10.0% CI95: -11.6493% 16.9535%, x2 = 0.043, df = 1, P = 0.8359) cases. Conclusion. The number of pregnant women with decompensated forms of DM, and with complications of DM was high, requiring pregestational measures to improve the results. |
