Background. In the Republic of Moldova there is an urgent need to raise awareness of the relationship between sustainable economy and sustainable health. Legal and economic mechanisms that stimulate employers to provide safe work environment are not so efficient and need to be improved. Objective of the study. The epidemiological analysis of occupational diseases registered in the Republic of Moldova, 1989-2019 period with identification of the general trends. Material and Methods. A retrospectivedescriptive epidemiological study was conducted. There were used data from the Register of new cases of occupational disease/ intoxication( f - 036/e) at the National Public Health Agency. Results. A remarkable drop of occupational morbidity has been identified amid continuous growth of the workplaces that do not meet the requirements requested by occupational hygiene, in addition to the number of employees exposed to the professional risk factors. Over the 1981- 1990 years have been documented yearly 49,8±4,46 new cases of occupational diseases, in 2001- 2010- 25,3±2,69 and in the 2011-2019 period- 5,7±0,58 cases per year. Vibration remains one of the main etiological factors. Work seniority with maximum incidence is over 20 years. On the top of risk professions are agricultural machinery drivers and medical workers. Conclusion. Underdiagnosis and failure to register occupational diseases in the Republic of Moldova does not confirm worker’s health status but are revealing huge gaps in the organization of occupational health system leading to the increased burden of occupational morbidity in the population. |
