Background. The number of children with type 1 diabetes is increasing every year. They represent a genuine vulnerable contingent of the population. Medication efficacy and increased quality of life can be identified through an interdisciplinary approach. Objective of the study. Revealing investigative priorities in an interdisciplinary framework regarding the vulnerable contingent of children with type 1 diabetes in order to enhance therapy and increase the quality of life. Material and Methods. Through the databases PubMed, NCBI, MeSH and others, 49 scientific publications were selected on the subject. A contingent of 60 Moldovan children with type 1 diabetes was supervised in the rehabilitation process at the Children's Sanatorium "Sergheevka" in the Odessa region, Ukraine between July 22 and August 10, 2019. Results. The interdisciplinary approach highlights a series of theoretical and practical priorities regarding the vulnerable contingent of children with type 1 diabetes. An important role in this research framework and possible practical applications is bioethics. The analysis of published scientific sources indicates and characterizes the vulnerability in children with type 1 diabetes. The observations and comparisons made on the group of children in rehabilitation sanatorium in Sergheevka show the presence of various components of the vulnerability, which affects the quality of life of minors with such severe chronic disease. Conclusion. Children with type 1 diabetes represent a vulnerable social category with medical, psychological, social, ethical problems, etc. The interdisciplinary approach offers opportunities to improve the quality of life. Bioethical principles are a factor in optimizing the expected actions. |
