Background. The COVID-19 pandemic crisis that has influenced and disrupted the course of things around the world has repercussions on the personal and professional life of each of us. Students, being in self-isolation and in conditions of distance learning are exposed to different psycho-emotional states. Objective of the study. To identify the impact produced by the psycho-emotional state of SUMPh students on their academic success in the conditions of self-isolation and distance learning caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. Material and Methods. Type of study: primary, descriptive, crosssectional. The collection of information was done through a questionnaire made in Google Forms and applied online to students. 1420 students from SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu”, years I-VI, faculties: Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy were interviewed. Results. Among the states experienced more intensely during the distance study period, the students mentioned anxiety (48.7%); frustration (22.6%); stress (53.4%), total dissatisfaction (24.7); depression (21.3%); persistent negative thoughts (24.5%); panic attacks (15.7%); lack of self-confidence (32.3%); demotivation (47.7%); loneliness (22.7%); helplessness (20.8%). It was identified strong correlation between students' emotional state and academic success (TI 95%-0,54-0,44, p=0,005; t=17,7˃1,96). Conclusion. In the midst of pandemic crisis, students, in conditions of self-isolation, are involved in distance learning process. However, the uncertainty and lack of clear perspectives in society conditioned by the pandemic, influence their psycho-emotional state, and respectively their academic success. |
