Background. MiRNA is involved in the evolution of heart diseases through regulation of gene expression with the development of pathological phenotype. Deviations of miRNA expression were described in various cardiovascular conditions, including cardiac hypertrophy, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction. Objective of the study. Studying the types, location, role of intracellular miRNA and blood microparticles, as well as identifying their correlations with the development of cardiac pathological processes to highlight diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Material and Methods. The current references in the international scientific literature, implicitly the databases of the PubMed and Springer Link electronic libraries were examined. Results. MiRNAs are found in circulating vesicles and serve as potential biomarkers for various cardiovascular pathologies. The most expressed miRNAs in the heart are miR-1, miR-208, miR-133 and miR-499. In the case of myocardial infarction, the content of miR-1 and miR-206 increases, being involved in apoptotic signaling through IGF-1, which leads to cardiomyocyte dysfunction. The aberrant expression of miR-133 causes changes on the cardiac skeletal muscle, resulting in cardiac hypertrophy. Increased miRNA expression is reduced by the administration of competitive inhibitors (antagomiR) of these molecules. AntagomiR-208a prevents myocardial hypertrophy, heart remodeling and heart failure. Conclusion. MiRNA regulates gene expression in cells and ensures itercellular communication. Circulating miRNAs are used as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of cardiovascular pathologies. The therapeutic use for the prevention and/or treatment of heart disease has been explored. |
