Rezumat

The use of mother tongue in EFL teaching process is an inevitable component in case when the mother tongue of both the teacher and the student is the same. There are different attitudes towards mother tongue use in EFL classroom depending on teaching method chosen by the teacher, from strict prohibition to its free use. Therefore, currently there is no unanimity among EFL teachers about this issue. The article below provides some recommended situations for the L1 use in the EFL classroom. At the same time, it was necessary to introduce the concept of judicious use of mother tongue in EFL classroom.
