Rezumat

The change of political, socio-economic conditions over time gradually leads to the loss of the tradition of building the so-called Bugeac house in the southern part of the country. Along with this, the construction practices and superstitions, the specifics of decorating the house in the interior, popular customs and beliefs related to the place and role of housing to different ethnic groups in this space are lost. The problem of capitalization of the built heritage was put in this space in the interwar period, attempts to protect the built heritage took place in the Soviet period, were resumed after the creation of the independent state. The authors of the article come with the analysis of European experiences, regarding the ways of protecting the built heritage and with various proposals for economic capitalization of old houses in the south of the Republic of Moldova, especially for tourism purposes. The European practices of capitalization researched by the authors, increased interest of tourists visiting the country compared to traditional houses, allow us to conclude that tourism is an economic branch that capitalizes non-degrading natural potential and human heritage. Capitalizing on the potential of traditional homes can be achieved for various purposes and in different ways, but with the combination of efforts at different levels.
