Rezumat

Despite of the practical importance the question on stages of the legal responsibility is most poorly investigated. In the article is paid attention to necessity of allocation potential responsibility (stipulated rule of law) and subjective legal responsibility. Three basic stages of the subjective legal responsibility - beginning, engaging and realization are analyzed. It is underlined, that the committing by a person of an offence is the basis of the beginning of the legal responsibility. The opinions of those authors who connect the beginning of the legal responsibility with activity of competent state bodies, or deny a possibility of study its stages are critically considered. The stages of engaging and realization of the legal responsibility are precisely differentiated.
