The article presents a brief analysis of urban milieu phenomenon and some ways/topics of its research. Urban research is especially important for Moldovan ethnology, the cities being the centers of cultural and ethnic interactions, as well as the space, where traditions transform due to the dynamic processes of globalization and migration, including the rural-urban one. The research may include different aspects of urban milieu on macro- and micro-levels, such as everyday practices, celebrations, food, urban folclor and traditions etc., in the context of historical and social processes.
