Rezumat

The phenomenon of media concentration generated partly by the great media owners became an actual subject of study for the western researchers, as well as for the local ones, considering the fact that it is very present in the media sphere at the moment. Until recently, however, it was considered to be a specific of western media reality, manifested by the increased interest of business people in the potential of the media sector, with the possibility of acquiring media institutions if having necessary possibilities. The article below is centered on the highlighting the specifics of the Moldovan press concentration, because it is seen differently from the European countries, for example, mainly the media being concentrated in the hands of politicians, who are interested most of all in purchasing media of all types. In the Republic of Moldova, the phenomenon is seen not as belonging to usual business deals, but with possibilities for owners of being in the electorate’s center of attention. This way the Moldovan journalists are forced to play between the political and financial interests, but everybody knows that mostly they are the same in this country.
