We studied the quality of the freshly harvested mass and hay of Romanian cultivars of cocksfoot Dactylis glomerata: Intensiv, Magda created at the Research-Development Institute for Grasslands, Brașov, and cultivated in the experimental plot of the National Botanical Garden (Institute) „Alexandru Ciubotaru”, Chisinau, Republica Moldova. The samples for assessment were taken in the 2nd year of growth, when the plants were cut for the 1-st time. The amount of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), crude ash (CA), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), acid detergent lignin (ADL), cellulose (Cel), hemicellulose (HC), the digestibility of dry matter (DDM) and organic matter (DOM), feed value and biomethane production potential were analyzed. It has been determined that the dry matter of freshly harvested mass of the studied cultivars contained 132-144 g/kg CP, 88-95 g/kg CA, 584-592 g/kg NDF, 355-361 g/kg ADF, 37-38 g/kg ADL, 317- 324 g/kg Cel, 229-231 g/kg HC, 60.4-61.0% DDM, 58.5-59.3% DOM, 12.01-12.09 MJ/kg DE, 9.86-9.93 MJ/kg ME and 5.88-5.94 MJ/kg NEl, but the hay 105-116 g/kg CP, 81-89 g/kg CA, 660-671 g/kg NDF, 389-402 g/kg ADF, 36-39 g/kg ADL, 322- 329 g/kg Cel, 226-229 g/kg HC, 53.3-56.8 % DDM, 50.0-52.7% DOM, 11.44-11.60 MJ/kg DE, 9.39-9.58 MJ/kg ME and 5.41-5.56 MJ/kg NEl; this fact indicates a optimal quality of the cocksfoot feed for ruminants. The biomethane production potential of cocksfoot substrates achieved 345-352 L/kg of organic matter. The studied cultivars of Dactylis glomerata could be used in the Republic of Moldova for the restoration of degraded grasslands, as a component of the mix of grasses-legumes for the creation of temporary grasslands and can be planted between rows in vineyards and orchards. |
