Rezumat

The basic methods for somatic hybridization were elaborated morethen 30 years ago. Somatic hybridization is a method with a high potential to create new variability and to use wild genetic resources. Already at the end of the eighties of the last century for at least 47 flower species protoplast culture protocols were published. But despite of comprehensible research commercial varieties basically derived from somatic hybridization are not on the market for ornamentals yet.
