The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the importance of documentation system for on farm conservation of Plant Genetic Resources (PGRs). The paper gives information about the international experience in the fi eld of documentation for on farm conservation, and described the most important kinds of information that will increase and make more effi cient the process of on farm preservation. The documentation system ReGen developed by Centre for Plant Genetic Resources of Institute of Genetics and Plant Physiology, Academy of Sciences of Moldova regarding on farm conservation consists of two basic kinds of data: passport data, identifi cation and features of collecting place. Utilization of this information will contribute signifi cantly to the value of plant genetic resources. |
