Transition from vegetative to fl owering is one of the most important steps of plant development. More than twenty loci are known to regulate this process. There is known two categories of genes: fl owering time and fl oral identity. The ability to control fl owering is important object in crop amelioration and allows creation of new varieties of plants with shorter vegetative period. Modulation of expression of these genes is used for obtaining transgenic plants. The obtained GMOs expect to have shorter vegetation phase and yearly fl owering. The article reviews the role of fl owering genes and their advances for crop amelioration. |
