The article looks at the tendencies of attracting foreign direct investments in CIS countries from the year 2015 to the year 2018. The causes and factors of these tendencies in different countries are characterized. The correlation between gross national income per capita and foreign direct investment inflows is shown. The progress of different CIS countries in World Bank “Doing Business” rating as a key indicator of investment environment is considered. The main problems of attracting investments are revealed. The ways of their solving are presented. The author came to the conclusion, that it is necessary to enhance the institutional environment of business and the corporate governance in order to increase investment attractiveness of the particular country.
