Thiadiazole derivatives are widely used as medications, chemical weed and pest killers, dyes, metal corrosion inhibitors, and ligands in coordination chemistry. It is found that in many cases, their useful properties correspond well to the structure of these compounds. Thus, the synthesis and study of the structural parameters of new thiadiazole derivatives are of both scientific and practical interest. Therefore the aim of this work is to determine the structural parameters of 2-[2(diphenylmethylene)-hydrazinyl]-5-{(2-[phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methylene]hydrazinyl}-1,3,4thiadiayole (I) using the X-ray methods. The molecule of compound I is non-planar; the mean square plane of its terminal phenyl cycles are oriented at the angles of 53.3° and 63.9° with respect to the planar thiadiazole fragment. The S—С bond lengths have been decreased in comparison to that of 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives. Along with the van der Waals interaction, there are also the C—H…π-ring (phenyl cycles) interactions between the molecules in the crystal (Fig. 1).figureFig. 1.
