Rezumat

In Romania, the study of constitutional law is an old tradition, the first theoretical researches in the domain and first university handbooks being elaborated under the influence of the generous ideas of the French doctrine and European standards regarding freedoms and rights. Numerous handbooks and university courses dedicated to constitutional law were published, a new generation of experts being remarked. The set-up of a powerful trend of research in the field of constitutional law, facilitated by the new historical circumstances in our country, allowed a wide exchange of ideas, the successful development of symposia, scientific meetings that contributed to clarifying some current issues and to rendering evident the guidelines for action in order to improve the constitutional frame of Romania’s state organization. The European constitutional law becomes, in this perspective, an essential useful complement of the national constitutional law, recording its transforming act and conferring it a new legitimacy, based on the concordance of the great values and principles sanctioned by a long tradition with the new imperatives of the European unity.
