Rezumat

Based on the maize hybrid combination Rf7 x Ku123, three cycles of doubled haploid selection were performed. In the first cycle, the set of doubled haploid lines was obtained directly from F1. In the following cycles, sets of doubled haploids were obtained from crossing advanced doubled haploid line with ancestral form (P1, P2 or F1). This was done in order to enrich the advanced line with favorable alleles, using ancestral form as their source. Three cycles of this breeding program resulted in the best doubled haploid line that exceeds the best parent (Rf7) by 30% for the grain yield. Thus, the average increase was 10% per cycle. The results show that in doubled haploid breeding, this recursion can be used without the risk of destruction of the assembled gene complex.
