Rezumat

The azomethine compounds form an important type of nitrogen-containing organic substances. The interest to these compounds is caused by the possibility of their use in practice as colouring agents, analytical reagents, stabilizers for polymers, catalysts and medicinal agents. Therefore, the synthesis and study of new Schiff bases are of both scientific and practical interest. The aim of this work is to study the structural features of 2-(2-hydraxybenzylidene)-N-(2methoxyphenyl)hydrazinecarbothioamide (I), which were investigated by X-ray analysis. The studied compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c (a = 5.002(1), b = 19.706(1), c =15.105(3) Å, α = γ = 900, β = 95.680, V = 1488.9(3) Å3) (Fig. 1). The C=N-NH-CS backbone of I is planar within 0.042 Ǻ. The dihedral angle of aromatic ring with mentioned core is equal to 6.4°. In the crystal the molecules of I are joined by N-H…S hydrogen bonds in the centrosymmetric dimmers (Fig. 2).
