Theme topicality. The Republic of Moldova is today one of the countries which is considerably aff ected by migration. Almost 25% of the economically active population of the country is involved in temporary labour migration. The positive and negative eff ects of migration are experienced by the migrants, the society in general, as well as by the population which is not directly involved in migration, i.e. children of the migrants and old persons who are assigned to take care of these children. The problem of migration and its eff ects continues to be the main focus of the specialists and the civil society. According to the data off ered by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, at the beginning of 2018, the total number of children aff ected by parental labour migration was 30 320. Today there is a strong need for the studies aimed at defi ning the health problems of the children aff ected by the above mentioned phenomenon. Resources and methods. The retrospective study includes 100 children from Criuleni district (born between 2000-2016) aff ected by parental labour migration. The study is based on Form 112/e, which provides information about the vaccination of the respective children. The results. Th e rate of BCG vaccination with children aff ected by parental labour migration constituted 83% for children under one year, and 21% revaccination for children under 7 years. In the case of IPV+Varicella vaccine the rate is 86% for children under one year, and 28% revaccination for children under 15 years. Th e number of children with DTP vaccine decreased from 85% for children under one year, to 36% revaccination for children under 15 years. The same tendency can be observed regarding MMR vaccine. Th e number of vaccinated children decreased from 77% for children under one year, to 28% revaccination for children under 15 years. Conclusions. Th e results obtained in the undertaken study have emphasized the connection between children without parental care as a result of labour migration and the children in high-risk groups for infectious diseases. The incomplete or partial vaccination of children aff ected by parental labour migration may cause a dangerous epidemiologic situation in the Republic of Moldova. |
