Rezumat

It is well-known that the presence in the water of different polluants, their toxicity being determined first of all by their stability and biological accessibility, have a negative impact on the human health even at relatively low concentrations. The toxicity of heavy metal ions is manifesting by the property to accumulate in the viable organisms that is leading to the disturbance of their functionality. The strontium ions, being presented in the water used in drinkable purposes with concentrations above the maximal admissible limit, are slowering the height growth process of children and at the same time substitute the calcium ions from bones, provoking different diseases. The aim of the present scientific work is the evaluation the possibility of removing from underground waters of the strontium ions, using in this aim the active carbon CAN-7 in dynamic conditions. The active carbon CAN-7 was obtained from nut shells through the chemical method of activation with orthophosphoric acid. From experimental data we obtain the values of loss of the directive effect of the adsorption layer at different lengths of adsorption layer (L). On the basis of this data we determine the length of the working layer of the column with active carbon CAN-7(Lo) which is equal to 185 mm. Subsequently the column with the adsorbent CAN-7 with adsorbed zinc ions was the subject of the regeneration process with hydrochloric acid with the concentration of 0,36%. The acid solution was filtered through the column with the same filtration speed- 0,85 m/h. The active carbon in this way treated has completely regenerated and can be used again in the adsorption process of Sr2+ ions removing from the studied water.
