The National Museum of History of Moldova has a rich collection of medals that was created by donations and acquisitions. It is constantly growing. This article mentions the most representative medals from the museum collection, which were issued at different times to commemorate the Great Union.  The social and political events that took place in Russia in 1917 played a decisive role in preparing the ground for the unification of Bessarabia with Romania. These events are reflected in the medals. NMHM has a collection of badges and medals marked by the revolutionary spirit that seized Russian society after the February Revolution of 1917. Of these items, in connection with the year 2017 as the predecessor of the Grand Union, mention should be made of only one: it is the medal “Freedom. To the Great Liberated People on February 27, 1917” (“Svoboda. Velikomu osvobozhdennomu narodu 27 fevralja 1917”) made in the D. Kuchkin’s workshop in Moscow.  The unification of Romania took place in a special historical context in three consecutive stages: unification with Bessarabia, Bukovina (November 28, 1918) and Transylvania (December 1, 1918). The union of Bessarabia with Romania was accomplished on March 27, 1918 (on April 9, according to a new style). The medals presented in this article remind of two important events: unifications with Bessarabia and Transylvania. Unfortunately, we do not have medals devoted to unification with Bukovina. The following medals are dedicated to the union of Bessarabia with Romania: “Six years since the Unification with Bessarabia March 27, 1918 – April 9, 1924” (“Şase ani de la Unirea Basarabiei 27 martie 1918 - 9 aprilie 1924”) and “The 75th Anniversary of the Unification of Bessarabia with Motherland 1918 – 1993” (“75 de ani de la Unirea Basarabiei cu Ţara Mamă 1918-1993”). The union with Transylvania was marked by the issuance of two other medals stored in our museum: a one-sided medal with an eyelet “Unification 1918-1928” (“Unirea 1918-1928”) and a medal “The 75th Anniversary of the Great Union 1918-1993; December 1, Alba Iulia” (“75 de ani de la Marea Unire 1918-1993; 1918 1 decembrie 1993 Alba Iulia”).  These materials reveal the attitude of the Romanians to the greatest political event in their national history.

В Национальном музее истории Молдовы имеется богатая коллекция медалей, созданная путем пожертвований и закупок, которая постоянно пополняется. В этой статье упоминаются самые интересные медали из музейной коллекции, выпускавшиеся в разное время в ознаменование Великого объединения.  Социально-политические события, происходившие в России в 1917 году, сыграли решающую роль в подготовке почвы для объединения Бессарабии с Румынией. Эти события нашли отражение и в медалистике. НМИМ располагает коллекцией жетонов и медалей, отмеченных революционным духом, который овладел российским обществом после Февральской революции 1917 года. Из этих предметов в связи с 2017 годом как предшественником Великого объединения следует упомянуть только один – это медаль «Свобода. Великому освобожденному народу 27 февраля 1917 г.», изготовленная в мастерской Д. Кучкина в Москве.  Объединение Румынии происходило в особом историческом контексте в три последовательных этапа: объединение с Бессарабией, с Буковиной (28 ноября 1918 г.) и с Трансильванией (1 декабря 1918 г.). Объединение Бессарабии с Румынией свершилось 27 марта 1918 года (9 апреля по новому стилю). Медали, представленные в этой статье, напоминают о двух важных событиях: объединении с Бессарабией и с Трансильванией. К сожалению, у нас нет ни одной медали, посвященной объединению с Буковиной. Объединению Бессарабии с Румынией посвящены следующие медали: «Шесть лет объединению Бессарабии 27 марта 1918 г. – 9 апреля 1924 г.» и «75-летие объединения Бессарабии с Родиной-матерью 1918 г. – 1993 г.». Объединение Трансильвании ознаменовалось выпуском двух других медалей, хранящихся в нашем музее: односторонней медали с ушком «Объединение 1918 г. – 1928 г.» и медали «75-летие Великого объединения 1918 г. – 1993 г.; 1918 г. 1 декабря 1993 г. Алба-Юлия».  Эти материалы раскрывают отношение румын к величайшему политическому событию их национальной истории.
