The vocabulary modernization process is continuous and incontestable. At the contemporary stage, this phenomenon is accentuated by a number of lexical borrowings of English origin, which penetrate with the realities they denominate, they find their place in the Romanian language system and are introduced in use together with the autochthonous ones, contributing effectively to enriching the lexicon. The most important, but the most questionable value of Anglicisms, in all the significant meanings of the word, is determined by their circulation as international terms, most of them infiltrating and finalizing the scientific and official-administrative terminology, flooding the journalistic style and penetrating into all areas of public activity. In this article, we notice that at present the Romanian language vocabulary evolves influenced by the expansion of the English language over the other languages, however, the process of internationalization has its own specificity, conditioned by four main factors: the geographical positioning of the two linguistic spaces, the accumulation of multiple etymologies in the spreading process, the polyvalent differences between the systems of the two languages and the consequences of globalization. |
