The concept of emotions continues to be an interesting issue for the re-searchers especially on the cross cultural level. Different methods of studying emotions are applied by linguists. One of them is by comparing emotions and their location in the body. Scholars like D. Matsumoto, J. Russell, A. Shmeliov and others have noticed the connection of the emotion with its bodily representation via the internal “bodily images” including such organs as the heart, the stomach, the blood and the bile. A Wierzbicka considers that the mentioned above internal organs and their location in the body expressed verbally denote a “scenario” that takes place when a human being experiences a certain emotion. To study emotions cross-culturally each “scenario” can be decomposed in stages by means of semantic primitives characteristic to every language. In such a way we can identify the differences and similarities of conceptualizing emotions in various cultures. |
