The concept of food safety strategy has been prepared in accordance with Government Decision no. 1125 of 12/14/2010, establishing an action plan for implementing the recommendations of the European Commission for the Republic of Moldova in order to establish a Free Trade Zone between Moldova and the European Union and in agreement with the Economic Stabilization and Recovery Program of the Republic of Moldova for 2009-2011 approved by Government Decision no. 790 of 01.12.2009. The overall objective of food safety strategy is to achieve the highest degree of public health protection and consumer interests in the safety of food. The basic principle of food safety policyis to apply an integrated approach, such as ”from cradle tofork”,including all sectors of the food chain,suchas: feed production, animal and plant health, animal welfare, primary production andfood processing, storage, transport, marketing, import and export.
