In the Cold War period our co0citizens from the Moldovan SSR have participated in the fighting actins in Afghanistan, Egipt (United Arab Republic), Angola, Vietnam, Syria, Ethiopia and North Korea. The Soviet authorities were talking of the „hand of American im­perialism”, whereas the Western ones were mentioning the „agressive ambitions of the Evil Empire”. The instruments were the same for the both rivals: using of reglar troops and merce­naries, supply of the military equipment, weapons and ammunitions. The diplomatic, military and economic pressures were reported, large-scale assistance to satellite countries, diplomatic maneuvers, espionage, arms race enhancing, creation of military coalitions, rivalry at the sport competitions, massive propaganda campaigns, murders, military actions and imminence of a nuclear war
