The data on tobacco and alcohol use were analyzed on based on the information included in reports MICS 2012 and STEPS 2013, population studies took place in Moldova. The general conclusions on tobacco and alcohol use characteristic for Moldova are analyzed for total number of respondents. The selected indicators on the use of tobacco and alcohol obtained in two studies were analyzed in identical age groups, ie 30-44 years. In MICS 2012 were interviewed 3021, in STEPS 2013 – 1229 persons aged 30-44 years. Comparing the numerical values of indices from two studies we identified statistically significant differences. For the extrapolation of data from demographic studies to the general population, and their evaluation is more faithful to operate with qualitative assessments than numerical values of the indices, because they vary significantly in different studies. For example, it is possible to say that according to the data of MICS2012 and STEPS2013 number of current smokers among women in Moldova not exceed their tenth, among men smoked about half of them, and in total about one fourth of adolescents and adults. |
