There are many clinical control randomized trials on surfactant treatment in neonates, but performing the comparative studies between different types of surfactants is difficult because of differences in dosing, preparations and way of treatment (1). The most studied combination of natural surfactants is Curosurf versus Survanta, but still there are a lot of questionable points, like the apropriate choice of the tipe of surfactant, acording the gestational age, birth weight and the pulmonary condition, also there are insuficient data about folow-up of respiratory and neurodevelopmental long term outcomes (19). The availability of two types of natural surfactants in the third level NICU of Mother and Child Institute, poractant alfa (Curosurf) and beractant (Survanta), gave us the opportunity to make a comparative study. According to the results of the study it was shown an advantage for Curosurf in comparison with Survanta, for the complications like intraventricular hemorrhage grade III- IV and pulmonary hemorrhage. Because of the small sample there were no statistical significant differences in the rate of other complications and parameters, thus determined us to continue the study. |
