This article examines Mihai Eminescu's opinion on the unity of the Romanian language. The author finds that the „unpaired” poet was a profound expert in the linguistic theories of his time and a great connoisseur of the literary and spoken Romanian language. From the M. Eminescu’s point of view on the issue of the relationship between nation – faith and language, the Romanian national unity is due not to the Orthodox faith (Romanians being a tolerant people to the other religious beliefs), but to the language unity |
