Actuality. Development of responsible parenting skills is a priority issue, due to remaining high divorce rate among young families, high rate of children born outside of marriage and remained without parental supervision, increased level of reproductive health problems. Matherials and methods. The results of the study conducted in framework of the “Community support services in responsible parenting skills development” supported by the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development reflects representations about meaning of parenting of different categories of community members, its components, needs to parenting trainings, and knowledge and behaviors of adolescents in reproductive health and parenting issues. Results. Piloting a program based on the principles of formative peer education has allowed identifying mechanisms of change in knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of adolescents and confirmation of the need to include in the school curriculum content oriented formation of values that promote health, family, relationships harmonious interpersonal and prepare the younger generation to become an effective parent. Conclusions. To support adolescent in development of parenting skills, families should represent a model in communication and form them basic life skills. Was identified, that sexuality and personal development education. Was demonstrated, that formative program applied on the principle of peer education was effective in increasing knowledge and strengthening students’ attitudes, but to assure they behaviors changes require longer systematic interventions implemented by specialists. |
