Rezumat

Saharna monastery, located on the right bank of the Dniester River, near the village of the same name, was founded in the second half of the eighteenth century by a representative of the Greek nation, boyar Hrisoverghi. There is no documentary evidence currently about the beginnings of the library, but it is clear that the first manuscripts and books have appeared here immediately after the founding of the hermitage and were donated by its founders. At the beginning the library was filled with Slavonic books because hermitage dwellers were Slavs, and along the Romanian books was completed, in 1939, there were 224 books in Romanian, Greek and Slavonic in Saharna monastery’s library. In 1958 the monastery was closed by the Soviet authorities and the possessions were confiscated. After its reopening there were attempts to restore the library. In 2012 the author visited the monastery and researched the books that are presented in this article.
