Rezumat

The media new opportunities and the rise of the Internet have had important implication for presidential communication. The new media hasbecome a tool for government communication dueto its capacity for real-time and interactive information sharing. Actually, the trend of reforming the institutional political communication is specific for the presidency of the most contemporary democratic states. In this case, some experts have notedthe president’s practice of establishing a direct dialogue with citizens and the desire to comply with certain principles related to the efficient activity of this political institution.The analysis of the official site of the President of the Republic of Moldova and investigation of the main structural elements confirms the compliance of this online communication platform to the category of standard presidential website. It includes specific elements of communication via new media and it’s used to inform citizens and to improve presidential institution activity. The article examines how the president office seek to integrate new media options of the Internet era and beyond into their communications strategies.
