It is well known that we all use sayings, idioms, proverbs and expressions in our everyday language. They represent a gateway to the concept of deeply rooted culture. For that reason, all foreign language students and translators should be familiar with all those expressions since they represent an essential aspect of each formative background. In this paper we will start listing all expressions that can give us some information about the figure of the Spanish women. That figure would be related to the “Women status” since those expressions are close to the culture from a specific country and to a specific social mindset. We also made a selection of the most popular of them, analyzing the similarities and differences between the Spanish and the Romanian ones. We therefore consider that this analysis can move us closer to some cultural indicators whose presence give us a clear evidence of some clichés that have been part of our society from the ancient times.
