Rezumat

With the recent wave of considerable migration to Europe, the widely debated issue of multiculturalism is considerably challenged. The coexistence of multiple cultures in modern world and its implications on the process of translation, considering the biblical relationship between translation and migration, is one of the concerns of this paper. On the other hand, while the effects of migration and the freedom of movement, as a result of globalization, operate at the level of identity, nationalism and the questioning of tolerance, translation work may act as a unifying factor and re-establish the cultural balance and the dialogue between cultures. As translation has constantly added to the issue of accuracy and fidelity, the cultural perspective and contextualization, it has become more than a mere mediator between cultures, but a shaper of cultural identity, by identifying ‘differences’ and accepting it in the course of communicative exchange.
