Purpose: Assessment of anthropometric development peculiarities of SGA newborns in relation to gestational age and type in the fi rst year of life. Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study on a group of 228 newborns from the Mother and Child Institute. Group (L1) was made up of 110 SGA newborns with birth weight <10 percentile for gestation and control group (L0) of newborns with eutrophic nutrition. Newborn clinical observation sheet (Form 097/e) was analyzed, of which fetal hypotrophy type were analyzed and mass anthropometry indicators (g), Head Parameter (cm) and height (cm) at 3, 6, 9, 12 months of life evaluated. For postnatal period there were used WHO standard growth curves for premature and term newborns. The severity degree and proportionality of postnatal retardation were assessed using the percentile method. The accuracy of rates and average values is determined by the test of signifi cance (t student) and the threshold of signifi cance (p) according to the t student table. Results: The study allowed identifying that the growth potential is lower in SGA newborns versus the control group during the fi rst year of life both for mass, height and for the head perimeter. Conclusions: The poorest prognosis of anthropometric development in the fi rst year of life is for premature baby girls of hypoplastic type: for added weight, p<0.001; height and CP p<0.01. |
