The development of human society also fostered the division of labour. Described by Adam Smith as “the splitting up of a task into a number of processes and sub-processes and carrying it out by a person or a group of persons” to increase productivity, the division of labour had existed long before the concept of business organization and economic theories. People were unable to know or do everything therefore they had to specialize in a certain area in order to be efficient, be promoted and develop their field of activity. This specialization led to the setting up of almost closed professional groups that shared a certain professional language, behaviour and customs. Unfortunately, in their development, people have destroyed the world around them, their environment. That is why there are nowadays “repairing” jobs and actions and a terminology
which blends threatening effects and sustainable development proposals. This paper will analyse the terminology in the articles
of the “EconomieVerte” section (and of the entire chapter, “Planète”) published in the issue of Le Monde magazine which
reviews the year 2012. |
